WELCOME TO THIS CHRISTIAN WEBSITE

Welcome to this Christian Website which has now been going for a number of years. Over 130,000 people have visited it since 2006. On the left hand side of the introductory page is a host of subjects and material that have been placed during this time and is there for your interest, study and perusal.

I feel it is time and right to change the format and to present day by day something a little simpler and trust will benefit and bless those who visit it. It will consist of a Prophetic Word for Today, A Golden Promise from the Scriptures, Wisdom that Works by Bob Stevenson, Choice Quotations and something to Focus your mind on are included that can be developed more fully by you. I trust you will find such refreshing and helpful.

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

Because you have been regenerated by the Spirit of God and have become a child of God and are now constituted in His Family and that He is your heavenly Father, you are no longer a non-entity, you are a new creature in a new creation. Within this new dynamic setting you are to play a very significant role. You are in a privileged state with the backing and blessing of God ever in attendance, so you must learn to humbly but truly assert your rights and begin to see your heavenly Father actively engaged in bring some choice things to pass. You are not to be a victim or play the martyr but to expect to experience the presence and goodness in your daily living. By reading His Word you can be guided by His precepts, inspired by His promises and through prayer engage in powerful communion that unlocks the grace and power of God now in your life’s situations.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy became our father again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that doesn’t fade away, reserved in Heaven for you” – 1 Peter 1: 3,4

There are many uncertain things in this world but our everlasting inheritance is NOT one of them. Our God and our Father has secured an inheritance for every one who has received the free of gift of His Son’s life that is incorruptible, undefiled and will never fade away.

No matter how unstable things become around you, you can bank on this promise to be unshakeable! Because of the abundant mercy of the Triune God, we can hope in a special place in heaven that is reserved just for us! It is more certain than the ground that you are standing on right now.

Father, we thank you for your abundant mercy expressed through the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus! When times get tough and the near future looks bleak, may we lift up our eyes to see the amazing future that is in store for us and may we be filled with hope knowing that you really are a faithful Father.

WISDOM THAT WORKS
PROFILING – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Let me describe for you a worthless and a wicked man; first, he is a constant liar; he signals his true intentions to his friends with eyes and feet and fingers. He is always thinking up new schemes to swindle people. He stirs up trouble everywhere. But he will be destroyed suddenly, broken beyond hope of healing
Read: Proverbs: 6: 12-15

We now have the phenomenon of profiling in the armoury of crime detection strategies. Criminal psychologists put together a character description of the offender they are seeking, analyse the various aspects of the crime scene, and then come up with a profile they believe suits the person they are looking for.

God has his own system of profiling those described in his word as haughty in the King James Version, worthless, in the American Standard Version, riffraff, and rascals in the Message Bible, along with other descriptions such as wicked and iniquitous.

Now it may well be that in your circle of acquaintances, you would not use any of these words to describe even the worst character, however, be sure of this, there are plenty of them around. So what is the profile we should look out for in these people? They are inveterate liars. They have an ungovernable, peevish, unyielding manner. Their eyes wink to signify deceit & craft. They shuffle around in agitated deviancy. Their fingers communicate sinister intent. Their perversity knows no boundaries of evil. They are always stirring up trouble.

If you do happen to come across anyone like this then call on GOD to have mercy on them, because apart from that they are broken beyond repair.

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

Do not be a spiritual loiterer in your journey with the LORD. It is so important to know the path you have to tread, the ministry you have to perform and the abilities that have to be released and developed and to pursue with intensity and consistency. Do not let anyone or anything hold you back or block your path as you endeavour to achieve all that has been designed by your LORD. Learn to keep pace in the race and continuously renew your spiritual resources in and through Him so that you have divine strength to push through to fulfilment. So do not lag behind in the rearguard but take up a strong position where you will not be deterred in anyway from your God-given role and purpose. The experience and song of triumph as you heed the exhortation will be yours.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

And the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you” – Romans 16:20 WEB

In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus taught us to ask our Father to ‘deliver us from evil’. Jesus wouldn’t have told us to pray this way unless He was certain that His Father would answer this prayer.

We know that in this world, we will have trouble in life because we live in a fallen world. Hurting people hurt other people and the cause and effect of a fallen humanity causes many evil things to happen. However, that does not mean that we are in subjection to the prince of the power of air. In James 4:7, the Bible says, resist the devil and he will flee from you.

In Romans 8:37, Paul says that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. As Paul continues to write the book of Romans, he goes on to say in today’s promise found in Romans 16:20, that the God of peace will soon crush the evil one beneath our feet.

WISDOM THAT WORKS

LAZINESS – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Take a lesson from the ants you lazy fellow. Learn from their ways and be wise. They have no king to make them work, yet they labour hard all summer: gathering food for the winter .… all you do is sleep… And as you sleep, poverty creeps upon you like a robber and destroys you”

Read: Proverbs 6:6-11

I think we would all agree that we do work considerable harder when we are under a certain amount of pressure. Be it in the form of deadlines to keep, or in the normal routine of life, which in the context of a family, always keeps us occupied. We also keep hearing the adage that we need to work smarter not harder, and yet experience teaches us whether ‘smart’ or ‘hard’ all the business of living takes effort.

Today’s word of wisdom encourages us to take a lesson from the ants. By the way, this proverb is not written for normal hardworking human beings whose life is made up of approximately eight hours work, eight hours sleep and eight hours to do everything else. This proverb is for the truly lazy who only want to spend their days either sleeping or eating and doing nothing else.

However we can all still profit from the work ethics of the humble ant. Here they are:-

They don’t need outside supervision. They are not over ambitious in their scheduling of tasks to be completed. They seem satisfied with small but constant gains. They make hay while the sun shines. They seem unperturbed by disruptions. Lastly, they get themselves organised. This is not bad “ant” – idote for laziness.

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

One of the great secrets of reaping a very bountiful and beautiful life is found in accepting and following the clear directive of Christ when He said: “Give, and it shall be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. . . .” – Luke 6: 38. If you behave niggardly that is what you will reap. You truly need to believe Christ’s promised word and put it into practise to prove truth of Himself and saying. You will never know the blessing of a full life of increase and experience unless you do so. It takes love, faith and sacrifice to do so but the returns are phenomenal. So break free from being a miser in your thought and doings and open up your life and gifts to others and your own experience with be a treasure house of wonderful testimony to God’s goodness. Don’t let the opportunity pass by of being and outstanding giver experiencing untol blessing from on high from the LORD.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy” – Jude 1: 24 WEB

One day, each one of us who has called on the name of the Lord will stand before His presence. Today’s promise encourages us that we have nothing to fear on that glorious day. Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Lord, and our Elder Brother, will present us before His Father completely faultless (blameless) on that holy day. The NLT Bible says that Jesus ‘will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.’

I love the thought that when Jesus presents us to God, He will do so with exceeding joy! The Amplified Bible describes it as… triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]. It will absolutely thrill the heart of Jesus to present us blameless before His Father on the day that we will see Him face to face!

We have nothing to fear about our future. Jesus has promised to be faithful to keep us from falling and will one day present us completely blameless before His Father (and our Father) in triumphant joy with unspeakable, ecstatic delight! Hallelujah!!!!!!

WISDOM THAT WORKS
GOING GUARANTOR – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Son, if you endorse a note for someone you hardly know, guaranteeing his debt, you are in serious trouble… Quick! Get out of it if you possibly can! Swallow your pride… Don’t put it off. D0 it now…if you can.. you have saved yourself like a deer that escapes from a hunter or a bird from the net”

Read.” Proverbs 6: 1-5

I have only gone guarantor on a couple of occasions for family members who did not have the financial equity to support their early endeavours to get started in life As a rule, if funding institutions are reluctant to underwrite a person’s financial future you can be sure there some unacceptable risk factor associated with them.

How pertinent is today’s wisdom to those of us to live in a world of the personal debt culture its message of ‘get now, pay later.’ The over-whelming perspective of God’s word on this is ‘DON’T DO IT’ in the first place, and if you have done it already, then do your utmost to get out of it.

The two creatures that are given to illustrate this are the deer and the bird. Once entrapped, the ability to fly wherever and whenever they desire. They also lose the tranquillity of undisturbed freedom, and the peace of mind of being answerable only for your own actions.

On top of all this, you may have to carry someone else’s debt burden! lf you can avoid t then do so. Alter all, if there is any default, you may have to pay!

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

In confronting the day ahead, start by being grateful that you are alive to deal with it in such a manner that will cause it to be both pleasurable and profitable. Know that you can seek the favour of the LORD upon it and ask Him to help you to negotiate it well. After all, He has bestowed it so that you may be blessed within it and made a blessing. Approach the hours ahead in faith, keep communion with the LORD as a priority and be ready to fall in line with anything that He seeks to reveal and bring about. Refuse to be anxious about anyone and anything, allowing heaven’s peace to influence you in a dynamic manner. You will find yourself in control through Him and capable of dealing with all that you encounter to immense satisfaction. At the end of this day you will have great cause to uplift your heart in praise to Him who has helped throughout.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me” – Psalm 23: 4 WEB

Today’s promise is a much loved verse from the often quoted Psalm 23. Most times, we might quote this verse at a funeral service or at another time of extreme loss and of course this verse is fitting for those occasions. At the end of our lives, it is comforting to know that God will never ever leave us.

However, I do want to ask you to think of another application of this promise… Jesus told us that except a seed falls in the ground and dies, it abides alone (John 12:24). The principle of the Christian life is a continual letting go of things, allowing them to ‘die’, only to see them resurrected again by the power of the Holy Spirit. Whether those things are dreams or desires, the principle of the cross (death, burial, resurrection) is a resounding theme in the daily Christian life.

In that context, when you are feeling like God is asking you to surrender something dear to you, when you are in a sense walking through the shadow of death for something that you have hoped for, be comforted in knowing that God is very close to you in those times of surrender and His staff and r

WISDOM THAT WORKS
ENOUGH ROPE – Rev. Bob.Stevenson

“The wicked man is doomed by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. He shall die because he will not listen to the truth; he has let himself be led away into incredible folly”.

Read: Proverbs 5:22-23

Have you ever heard that phrase “Give him enough rope and he’ll hang himself?” We use it to describe somebody who is so intrinsically foolish, stubborn, or self-willed that eventually they shoot themselves in the foot and all the consequences of their folly comes home to roost.

There seems to be no capacity within these poor folk to understand where their actions are going to ultimately lead them, and they seem to blunder on in blind ignorance, refusing to listen to any guidance or advice that may be given to them.

Only death is at the end of the rope of the person who is not prepared to listen to the truth. Listen to the truth about themselves. Listen to the truth about their actions and consequences. And lastly listen to the truth about God and eternity.

It is sad to reflect that there are such people around us who for some reason or other let themselves be led into all kinds of folly. Such folly will only lead to an irreversible doom both in this life and the one that is yet to come.

Jesus said, “The truth shall set you free.” May the Lord help us all to escape this self imposed doom and be prepared to listen to good advice.

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

As it is absolutely essential for you drink and take in the fresh air to maintain your natural being and existence, so with your new life it Christ which is of a spiritual quality. It demands that you take in continually the breath of the Spirit of God so that you can experience the fullness of being and life in the heavenly and divine realm. You must always be looking to God to supply this vital requisite so that you throb and thrill under the dynamic of God’s own life. This is ever available, but you must see the need to draw from this glorious source of inspiration and motivation. This is how Christ the Anointed of God lived and worked, as did the early Christian leaders and believers, and so must you. Set time aside today to drink in the fresh air of heaven and experience its stimulating and vitalising power.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” – 2 Cor 1: 3-4 WEB

We all need comfort. As children, when we scraped our knee playing in the backyard, we needed the comfort of a mother or a father to simply hold us and reassure us that everything was going to be okay. When we experience extreme disappointment or the loss of a loved one, words fail… What we need is comfort.

In today’s Bible passage from 2 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul tells us that God is the Father of mercies (compassion) and the God of ALL comfort. Our God and Father is the source of ALL comfort and He wants us to be comfortable coming to Him to receive comfort whenever we need it.

Since we were created to receive comfort, we will seek it out somewhere. If we don’t receive it from God, we will receive it from other things… Food, material things, false comforts, etc. God wants each and every one of us to run into His arms every time we need to be comforted!

As we receive the comfort from His loving arms, we will then be able to be an expression of that same comfort to other people when they need a comforting shoulder to cry on.

WISDOM THAT WORKS
SEXUAL FAITHFULNESS
Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Drink from your own well, my son – be faithful and true to your wife… Be happy, yes, rejoice in the wife of your youth. Let her breasts and tender embrace satisfy you. Let her love alone fill you with delight. Why delight yourself with prostitutes?… For God is closely watching you, and he weighs carefully everything you do.

Read: Proverbs 5: 15-21

I am amazed at the way Solomon is unabashed when it comes to talking about sexual faithfulness. He has no hesitation in spelling it out in the clearest terms.

It seems every generation has found ways to gratify the sex urge outside of a legitimate loving relationship. Today’s generation is no different, having found their own solutions to illicit gratifications with what are now called ‘Wife Swapping Parties”. The scene is set as a household party where a number of couples come together for an evening meal at somebody’s home. After a while they all throw their car keys in a bowl, and one by one the women begin to pick up a set of keys, and which ever man the keys belong to, drives the women home for a one-night stand and all this is done with the willingness of all the parties concerned.

But willing or not, the aftermath of such destitute activity with it’s compromised loyalties will inevitably result in soured relationships and possibly end up in separation or divorce.

Once you begin to embrace what is not yours, be you male or female, the prospect of any further intimacy with a life partner is all but destroyed, not to mention the fact that there is a God almighty who sees everything you do.

It is man and not the Bible that needs correcting. Greater and more careful scholarship has shown that apparent contradictions were caused by incorrect translations, rather than divine inconsistencies?

Today there are more people who know the words to a television commercial than know the words in the Bible?

Every graveyard and every cemetery testify that the Bible is true.

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

As you live in close relationship with your LORD, in sincere love and trust and obeying His word, know that there will be rewarding factors that will come your way in the ‘now’ life as well as at the ultimate rewarding ceremony when Christ will duly and fully recompense all who have lived devotedly to Him and served His people and purposes. So today, the LORD will not only be with you, aiding and supplying what is required, He will inspire to deeds of service of a rewarding nature now besides planning for the eternal ages where you will occupy a place and ministry of service and ministry that will more than compensate all you have done for Him now and for others. You must keep heavenly incentives present and in working order so that you do not lose any opportunity in serving His in the greatest manner and measure. Let nothing and no-one prevent from giving maximum industry to Him and His kingdom.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” – Psalm 51: 17

I am so thankful that the sacrifices that God accepts are those of a broken and a contrite heart. Psalm 34:18 says… The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (NIV) When we are feeling the farthest away from God, He is actually the closest to us. He does not abandon us in our times of crisis for He has promised to save us even in our darkest time.

King David wrote this Psalm after it became public knowledge that he had sinned with Bathsheba. His illegimate affair caused a world of hurt and pain for many people. It was at David’s lowest point, that he had a revelation of God’s love and mercy. Perhaps David expected God to reject him for his sin? Perhaps he was surprised to feel God’s nearness in the midst of his darkness?

Whatever he felt, he knew that the Lord saw his broken heart, and God knew that David was truly sorry for his sin. For many of us, when we sin against God, we run in the opposite direction of Him assuming that He will turn away from us. The opposite is true! When we are at our lowest point, He is very close to us and He promises to save those who are crushed in spirit.

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

As the LORD has furnished the universe and this planets with many outstanding things, He has the done the same with you. Not only has He created and regenerated you in and through Christ, He has deposited choice graces and gifts within you that must be released, find expression and full development. As you seek to live constantly in accord with Him so you will discover en-route these factors that are meant not only to embellish but make you a blessing and useful to he society in which you exist.. He is ever in and alongside of you to tune and tone you up by His Spirit and Word and through prayer to release and make you an incredible blessing in these vital days. Make certain that you maintain your oneness with Him and in so doing you will yet discover infinitely more His plan for your life and ministry.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

”But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:” – Jeremiah 31: 33 WEB

In this promise, the Lord tells Israel that a day is coming where He will place His very law in their inward parts and write it on their hearts. No longer will they struggle to walk in God’s plan and purpose for them because His plan and purpose will be inside of them.

When Jesus died and was buried and rose from the dead, He brought in a completely new covenant where He exchanged our life for His life. Everything that Jesus had, became ours. The law of our God has now been written on our hearts because our old life has died and our new life is hid with Christ in God.

Because of Jesus, His God has become our God, and we have become His people. What a glorious promise and the fulfilment of the new convenant that God spoke of in Jeremiah’s day. We are not separate from God and His ways. He lives in us and through us by the power of His Holy Spirit. We can rest in this amazing truth. He has written His law on our hearts!

WISDOM THAT WORKS
IF ONLY
Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Young men listen to me, and never forget what I am about to say: Run from her! Don‘t go near her house . . . Lest afterwards you groan in anguish and in shame when syphilis consumes your bod, and you say, “Oh, if only I had listened! . . . Oh, why didn’t I take advice? . . . For now 1 must face public disgrace”.

Read: Proverbs 5: 7- 14

Life can be full of regrets in many instances and none more so in the area of illicit sex. How the Bible seems to give such prominence to these issues to the point of spelling it out in graphic detail.

Here are some of the repercussions and regrets that emerge out of a life of sexual promiscuity:

– You will definitely fall to temptation. The Bible has it right when it says that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, so do what the Proverb says and run.
– You will without a doubt lose your honour. This might not seem all that important when you have it, but when you loose it, it can really hurt.
– You will be a slave to the merciless and the cruel hold that such relationships will certainly bring.
– On a purely practical note, you will lose your hard earned wealth and leave yourself open to the unscrupulous requirements of those who have no right whatsoever to have dominion over your life.

You will also be left with life long regrets and constant expressions of “If only!” “If only!” “If only I had not insisted on having my own way. If only I had taken advice!

Such a lifestyle can only end in public disgrace and private recriminations. Oh Lord from such deliver us is a prayer we do well to pray!

CHOICE QUOTATIONS

People the Bible for the first time are often surprised to discover how much human drama it contains. Almost every human dilemma and conflict is reflected in its pages.

The Bible is the only Book in the world that predicts the future. The Bible is more modern than tomorrow morning’s newspaper.

The Bible is God’s book of promises, and, unlike the books of men, it does not change or get out of date.

Let the study of the Bible become central in your life not just so you will know it but that you will obey it.

Don’t languish in a state of defeat and despair even though the conditions you find yourself in are utterly negative and full of foreboding. The LORD will come to you in such circumstances, give you knowledge of Himself and the power to believe that such can and will be changed by supernatural intervention. He has allowed this in order that your faith will grow, to believe His promises, and be exercised and to see His love and power towards you. You are not to be left to the mercy of Satan or in the extreme circumstances because He will show up and make known His quality passion and unique ability to deal with that which oppresses and would defeat you. As you come to your Red Seas and Jordans, know this, He that opened the way then still possesses the wisdom and ability to work miracles for you in similar fashion.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s” – Psalm 103:5 WEB

Eagles go through a moulting process where they shed their old feathers and grow new ones. This process is necessary in the rejuvenation of the eagle so it can continue to remain strong. In Psalm 103:5, King David tells us that the Lord will satisfy us with good things and will renew our youth in the same way that the eagle renews its feathers.

No matter how old we get, our God and Father promises to continue to renew our inner being so that we will have a spring in our step, a sparkle in our eye, and a sense of awe and wonder about life.

May each one of us hold fast to this promise and not dread our future, but look forward to the renewing process where our youth will be renewed just like the eagle’s!

WISDOM THAT WORKS
INDISCRETION – Rev Bob Stevenson

“Listen to me, my son! I know what I am saying; listen! Watch yourself . . . . for the lips of a prostitute are as sweet as honey . . and flattery. . . But afterwards only a bitter conscience is left to you . . . She leads you down to death and hell, for she does not know the path of life. She staggers down a crooked trail . . .”

Read: Proverbs 5: 1-6

Have you ever heard the sayings, “Discretion is the better part of valour” It comes from the days when a gentleman’s honour was resolved with a duel either with swords or pistols. However if your opponent was obviously better skilled than you in the use of weapons, it might be better to lose a modicum of honour, for what it was worth, than to lose one’s life for the sake of valour.

Discretion is the ability to judge what is the best course of action to take. It carries an undertone of being cautious in the decisions you make, or being circumspect regarding your conduct, so as not to act rashly or impetuously and have it turn to your own disadvantage.

How appropriate this kind of advice is, especially for men who are. occupied with an over stimulation for the opposite sex. Joseph had it right when he fled from Potiphar’s wife when she made such blatant advances towards him. It brings to my mind another saying of a military ilk. “He who lives to run away lives to fight another day!” Oh how devastating an indiscretion of this kind can be, even when you are an innocent party like Joseph!

Take a leaf out of Solomon’s book and watch yourself. You might not be as strong as you think you are!

CHOICE QUOTATIONS
From Albert Einstein

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

The secret for full living for you is found in the Scriptural directive in facing and dealing with life simply a day at a time with the aid and blessing of the LORD. This is what He honours and is committed to, so as you adopt this principle and procedure, you will discover that you will get the most out of all that is done and associate with. Do not bring tomorrow’s demands into today and make everything more cumbersome and difficult. The LORD has covered and fully catered for the emerging hours and leaves tomorrow where it belongs, and so should you. Tomorrow with all that it holds is to be a surprise but today is to be oneof choice relationship with your LORD, discovering Him in a greater way and seeing Him do some very beautiful things of worth for you. New friendships to be born, fresh things faced and dealt with successively, new chapters to be written in your life’s adventure story. Have a good day, TODAY.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up
with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” – Isaiah 40: 31

When we think of waiting, whether it is waiting in a car for a friend, waiting in a doctor’s office for an appointment, or waiting in a check out line, we might tend to think of waiting as being a time of inactivity or passivity. After all, while we are waiting, we aren’t actually doing anything… or are we?

When we wait for somebody or something, we are actually in a posture of submission to somebody or something. For example, if you are waiting in a car for a friend, you have positioned yourself to be vulnerable to however long your friend takes to come into the car. When you are waiting in a doctor’s office, you have given the doctor and his/her staff the power to choose who is next in line for their appointment.

While we may see waiting as inactive, it is actually the opposite in many cases. For me, a self-described ‘type A personality’, waiting can be very difficult at times. The longer I wait, the more I begin to scream on the inside for something to happen! For me, waiting isn’t passive or inactive, waiting is one of the most active things I can do.

In today’s promise, we read that if we wait on the Lord, He will renew our strength. When we choose to humble ourselves before Almighty God and acknowledge that it is His will and direction that we are looking for, we are positioning ourselves to wait for Him to give us the guidance we are looking for. When we wait on Him, we are honouring Him and choosing not to ‘lean to our own understanding’ as mentioned in Proverbs 3:5-6.

WISDOM THAT WORKS
WHERE YOUR HEART IS –  Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Listen, son of mine, to what I say… Keep these thoughts ever in mind; let them penetrate deep within your heart, for they will mean real life . . . and health. Above all else guard your affections for they influence everything else in your life. Spurn the careless kiss of a prostitute . . . Don? Get side-tracked . . . pull back from . . . danger”

Read: Proverbs 4:20-27

When somebody says “Above all else” we do well to take notice of what follows. Guard your heart or affections because they influence everything else in your life. How true those words are! Because the heart is the centre of our lives, certainly from a physical point of view, once your heart gets damaged you can be physically incapacitated. As well as the physical impact there is also the emotional trauma thatcomes when indecent liaisons damage your affections.

Jesus spoke about the capacity of the heart to defile the human spirit when he said that, “Out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts and blasphemies”. That same capacity is available to bring out of the good treasure of the heart. That which is good and decent. In other words our heart can be influenced for evil or good. It’s the way i allow it to be influenced that brings the difference between a heart full of trash or a heart full of treasure.

Is it any wonder that this caring father says to his son, “Above all else” guard your heart or your affections? They are precious beyond measure, so keep them where your treasure is! After all Jesus says, “where your heart is that’s where your treasure will be” so be sure to guard it well!

CHOICE QUOTATIONS

It’s better to live forever in the grateful memory of one true heart, than to float for a little hour on the highest crest of fame. – Albertson

Do good and leave behind you a monument of virtue that the storm of life can never destroy. Write your name in kindness, love and mercy on the hearts of thousands you come in contact with year after year; you will never be forgotten. No, your name, your deeds will be as legible on the hearts you leave behind as the stars on the bow of the evening. Good deeds will shine as the stars of heaven. – Chalmers

No other fame can be compared with that of Jesus. He has a place in the human heart that no one who ever lived has in any measure rivalled. No name is pronounced with a tone of such love and veneration. All other laurels wither before His. His are ever kept fresh with tears of gratitude. – Channing

AN IN WORD FOR YOU TODAY

Each day you are called upon to prove yourself in many ways that you may know in a distinct manner to the approval of your LORD. There is a spiritual awareness and conviction in your being that it is essential, like your Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, to “always do those things that please the Father” – John 8: 29. As you live and move, knowing that what you say and do, and being divinely motivated, you sense that heaven is delighted in way you engage yourself in the outworking of everything. Whether the issue is big or small, it makes no difference. Your application to the divine principle within causes you to behave as one prompted and inspired from on high. As you experience His approval, so you will be truly blessed and it will be evident to all without saying that the LORD is in charge and control of you and all you do. You cannot come out worse for adopting this life-style but are assured of the best in conclusion.

A GOLDEN PROMISE

“Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth as the morning, and your healing shall spring forth speedily; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Yahweh shall be your rear guard” – Isaiah 58: 7-8

God’s heart is for the underdog. He protects the widow and the orphan and has chosen the poor of this world to inherit His kingdom. In today’s Scripture promise, God tells us that if we feed the hungry, give the poor shelter and clothe the naked, then His favor and His blessings will shine on all that we do.

The NLT version of Isaiah 58:8 says… “Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.” (NLT)

What a glorious promise! If we look after those who can’t look after themselves, then God will look after us in every way possible. Our wounds will quickly heal, the light of our godliness will lead us forward and the glory of the Lord will protect our backs! God’s heart is for the underdog.

In every way, we too are underdogs that God protects and provides for. May we see the world through our Father’s eyes today and see the many opportunities that He presents to us so that we can be a blessing to others.

WISDOM THAT WORKS
THE FAVOUR OF GOD – Rev. Bob Stevenson

“Don’t do as the wicked do. Avoid their haunts . . . for evil men can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed or the day. They can‘t rest unless they cause someone to stumble and fall . . But the good man walks along in the ever-brightening light of God’s favour . . . while the evil man gropes and stumbles in the dark”.

Read: Proverbs 4: 14- 19

It is recorded that one of John Wesley’s favourite sayings was, “Best of all God is with us.” The reason being, that if you have God on your side you can’t lose. Even the Apostle Paul recognized this when he penned those classic words to the Roman believers, “If God be for us, who can be against us” (Rom 8:31) When God sees us endeavouring to walk in harmony with His word He pulls out all the stops to encourage and support us in our endeavour.

As we experience this support, we get this overwhelming sense that things are just going to get better and better. It’s as if we not only see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we come out into the ever increasing brilliance of His kindness towards us. If that were not enough in itself, we receive the added confidence and assurance that His hand is upon our lives as we
experience His presence on a daily basis.

John Wesley valued the presence of God in his life so much, that this saying has remained with us to this day.

“Best of all God is with us” — Let’s believe it and enjoy the ever brightening light of God’s favour!

CHOICE QUOTATIONS

Whenever you hear of a man doing a great thing, you may be sure that behind it somewhere is a great background. It may be a mother’s training, a father’s example, a teacher’s influence, or an intense experience of his own, but it has to be there or else the great achievement does not come, no matter how favourable the opportunity. – Miles

The only way in which one human can properly attempt to influence another is to encourage him to think for himself, instead of endeavouring to instil ready-made opinions into his head. – Stephen

We reform others unconsciously when we walk uprightly. – Swetchine

There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it. – Wharton
