A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A Daily Promise

UNIQUE FEET

This is what both David and Habakkuk discovered that made all the difference to their stability and progress. The prophet said: “The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and He will make me walk upon mine high places” – Habakkuk 3:19. Although given tough assignments the assurance was they knew through the promise of divine stamina and inspiration they would live and move in the mountainous regions with great blessing. And so can you! You were made to tread and subdue those places that are difficult and pleasurable. The hind is a unique creature. The reason why it can live in and enjoy the heights and jump from crag to crag without difficulty is simply this: its back feet always land where the front feet are initially placed. It is sure-footed. When you faith is joined to your obedience you will never be in difficulty The Lord will see that you can live dangerously as well as dynamically without ado!

Thought for the Day

BE STRONG

The word of the Lord to you is what was given to Joshua, and was advocated by Paul: “Be strong” – Joshua 1:6; Ephesians 6:10. You are absolutely inadequate of yourself to deal with life and the demands of this day, but your Lord is all-sufficient to provide the wisdom required, and energy, too, so that you will answer everyone and everything that comes your way today. Nothing baffles Him and He has all the power to work in the impossible circumstances. Never forget with regard to creation, He upholds and serves the whole of creation without faltering and failing, upholding by His omnipotent word. He certainly is with you to make sure that you are well supplied with all that is essential to answer all that comes across your pathway. There is no way that you will fail as long as He is alongside you ministering His strength. Remember, ‘His strength is made perfect in weakness” – 2 Cor 12: 9. Let the wek say: ‘I am strong’.

QUOTES TO NOTE Dr. Billy Graham

The Pilgrims . . . put their ideals ahead of all material considerations. It is not surprising that the Pilgrims had little and succeeded, while we have much and are in danger of failing. No civilization can make progress unless some great principle is generously mixed into the mortar of its foundations in life.

 DAILY MEDITATIONS

A WICKED CONSPIRACY – 2 Samuel 15

It is not a very nice thing when someone near and close to you does something evil against you behind your back, when they furtively and secretly plan your downfall and ruination! This happened to David. His own son that he had pardoned and restored worked contrary to the good of his father. He was quite a handsome guy – 2 Samuel 14: 25 and he had a charm about him that drew people after him. In a deceptive manner it states, “so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel” – v6. His father was ignorant of what he was doing on the sly.

Because of his long reign as king, there would be those who would be looking for a change and Absalom appeared to be the peoples’ man. From all natural appearances he had everything going for him and he was prepared to depose his father from the throne and dispose of him too! He would stoop to the lowest level to achieve his ends. It was not a wise procedure as later factors reveal. How foolish to act in a way like this against the Lord’s anointed! He was aware of the conspiracy and would cause it to fail.

Involvement in evil practices of this nature reveals an awful lack of wisdom and foresight. It is senseless and stupid to engage in this kind of deed because it does eventually work contrary and brings inevitable judgement. We are sensible when we always act in righteousness thus gaining the approval of God. Never let our ambitions be corrupted by seeking things for ourselves in a wrong manner. God is able to promote when all we do is pleasing to Him. In course of time, in His providence, He works to the distinct advantage of those who act rightly.

A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A Daily Promise

A DOUBLE COMFORT

You are assured by God’s Word that you will be comforted when you face troubles, trials and tribulation. Whilst you know and enjoy good blessings from the Lord, there are incidents and experiences that really seek to try and hurt. Know that the Lord is ever with you to stand and succour you whatever the grievous situations encountered. By His presence, words and action He is most supportive and will make these things serve you and add to your growth and personal testimony. You will never be alone because He is committed to your happiness and health. Having come through these things, your role is being with and imparting that knowledge and strength to others. His comfort will flow through you, so the promise will be advanced and achieve much for His glory. Besides being ministered unto by the Lord you will minister for Him His comfort. Paul affirms: “Who comforteth us in all our tribulation that we may comfort them which are in trouble” – see 2 Cor1: 3-7.

Thought for the Day

FAITHFULNESS

A great and wonderful characteristic of your Lord is His eternal, quality and consistent faithfulness which has been manifested towards all His creation and creatures, and that includes you. It has been your blessedness to know and enjoy His loyalty and fidelity in a generous and gracious manner and measure. With the prophet you can wholeheartedly proclaim: “Great is Your faithfulness” – Lamentations 3:23. The experience of this is purposed to impact and infuse you with the same quality spirit and devotion. Just as He is faithful to you in all things at all times, so must this be your life and life-style so that you know credibility before Him and amongst your friends and peers. Both He and others can ever trust you because of your trustworthiness that arises from your faithfulness. In the ultimate as you stand before Him for His sentence on your life, He wants to be able to say: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, .  . .  enter into the joy of your Lord” – Matthew 25: 21.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Dr. Billy Graham

The Pilgrims had vision and hope because they lived in the dimension of eternity. Their strength of spirit was forged by a personal faith in God, by tough discipline, and by regular habits of devotion.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

RESTORATION – 2 Samuel 14

David grieved over the fact that Absalom was now away from him and yearned for him – 2 Samuel 13: 39. Joab perceived this and conceived a way in which to promote the return of his erring son – vv1-20. He felt this gap and alienation must cease and so devised a procedure whereby the king would feel free to restore him back to his home. Having maybe sensed how good and merciful God had been to him over his previous wrongdoing, it was now his turn to demonstrate the same to his offspring.

Unfortunately, David did not go all the way in the matter. Whilst permitting him to return he did not go out of his way to welcome him in a warm and loving manner. He did not see the king’s face -24. This indicates that he only went halfway and Absalom had good reason to be partly grieved. It was only when he took severe action that it was remedied – vv29-32. Eventually it came to pass after exerting pressure but it would have been better had David taken the initiative. This failure may well have sowed in the young man the wrong kind of spirit and attitude that was to break out in a sinister and evil purpose later on.

In the issue of forgiveness and restoration let there be no half measures. It should become obvious to those who receive such at our hands that they are totally within our love and friendship so that they sense love and security. There should be no keeping them at arm’s length and having any suspicions over them. This is to court disaster and further problems. Let God’s grace rule and determine everything.

A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

THE BLESSING OF GIVING

Jesus taught on the issue and makes a bold and assured expectation for you as you fully respond. He said – “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom.” Luke 6:38. The emphasis is on your great desire to bless and bestow on others that which they stand in need of. As you are taken up with blessing in this way there is sure to be a generous return for your sowing. The reaping factor will come into operation. God oversees this factor and He will make sure that as you are given over to enriching others you will not be by-passed. In fact, you will make the discovery that this is the best way to live and behave. As God blesses you, He can entrust you to give even in a bigger fashion and so bring relief to countless people. Much is to flow in your direction so open out your storehouse and abundantly communicate to others in generous ways.

Thought for the Day

WHOLESOME

The Lord desires that you know what it is be wholesome. His purpose is to have wholesome people within His kingdom evidencing all the qualities of His nature and abilities. To be a wholesome child of God means that you are in a healthy, nutritious and sound state wherein in you can be, live and work at your best in His great interests and enterprise. Where there is present deficiency in character and gifting, He desires that such should be changed by His spiritual input so that there is no lack. As you allow His Spirit, Word and Providences to operate within you, there will be the birthing and developing of factors of a heavenly order that will enrich you and make you complete ready for a greater role on earth and in preparation for the eternal world. The Lord purposes that you should be a whole person and is with you to bring this to pass. See what Peter states in 2 Peter 1:3, 4 “He hath given unto all things that pertain to life and godliness  . . . . add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; . . .”

QUOTES TO NOTE – Dr. Billy Graham

Our government is certainly going to fall like a rope of sand if unsupported by the moral fabric of God’s Word. The moral structure in our country grew from Judeo-Christian roots. When those values are applied, they produce moral fruits. But if that structure disappears, the moral sentiment that shapes our nation’s goals will disappear with it.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

EVIL LUST – 2 Samuel 13

This is a sad episode that follows on the heels of David’s fall. One of his sons, Ammon, allows himself to be eaten up with carnal desire for his half sister Tamar. She was the daughter of another wife of David, and the brother of Absalom, who was to figure much here. He is driven with a desire to have her as his own but regrettably he did not proceed in a pure and just manner. Instead of making his feelings known to her in a loving manner he appears to be consumed with evil lust, and things went decidedly wrong.

Ammon had a supposed friend who provoked him in the wrong way. The Bible says that ‘Jonadab was a very subtle man’ – v3. The Living Bible calls him ‘a crafty friend.’ He led him into a course of action that led to the rape of Tamar and then into disowning her and this made the situation worse than ever. The deed was bad enough but made extremely worse by the hatred he then bears in his heart. It is evident that it was not love at the first but lust; true love would not have adopted this kind of deed. As later events reveal: he lost his life as a result, so what he did was not worth the experience. It became his total undoing.

How watchful we have to be over the inward cravings of the flesh! The sexual drive is a very strong factor and if not purely and perfectly kept in control can wreak havoc. History and present day revelations prove decisively that it is folly to court evil, fleshly desires because the consequence of such brings ruin and disaster. One needs to pray and ‘lead us not into temptation’ and also to make sure that we keep as much as possible ‘out of the way of temptation’. Set a guard on what you put your eyes on and what you read. Promote that which is holy and good into life.

A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A Daily Promise

A PROMISE OF REAL PROSPECT

For your life and future to be full of real prospect you need to know and build on the promises of God. In Proverbs 3: 6 it gives clear and sound instruction as to how you can have a guided and fruitful existence here on earth. It affirms: “in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths”. There is a condition for the latter being fulfilled and it is up to you to carry out the condition set. It really means putting God first in everything. He has priority in your thoughts and plans and as you are daily committed to seeing they are wholly carried out in faith and with good attitudes. You will know when this is so. The consequence of the right procedure results in the smile and favour of God. He will always show you the best, good and right way and as you tread such, there will be untold progress, blessing and success in becoming a person of real wealth and worth. Life will not be wasted but full of credit with the prospect of leaving a great legacy for the next generation.

Thought for the Day

GLADNESS

The psalmist invites you to a daily, profitable exercise that is sure to do an amazing amount of good. He says: “Serve the LORD with gladness” v- Psalm 100: 2. Because He has made you glad you should be able to make this joyful response. In view of the fact that He has brought you into a dynamic relationship with Himself, having forgiven your sins, made you His child thus giving you access into constant fellowship with Him, knowing His daily providence and revelation into your affairs should create a healthy mood and mind. Out of this wholesome and happy state let their flow songs, hymns and words of gladness to Him. As you fill your life, the air and atmosphere with such, not only will He be thrilled and exalted, so will your gladness increase and others around will sense it. Your gladness will become infectious and contagious thus transforming others and life and day as a whole.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Dr. Billy Graham

Our nation grew strong in an era when moral standards were emphasized, and it will grow weak when we condone that which we once condemned.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

THE DIVINE REBUKE – 2 Samuel 12

The sin of David appeared to be concealed for quite a period of time but he knew in his heart the awful crime that had been committed. He was under great conviction, as Psalm 32 makes known. What a miserable time he experienced over the issue and he must have longed for relief from the sordid matter! The Lord takes initiative and reveals to Nathan the prophet what had occurred and he had the task of going to him to rebuke him and to truly clear the air and bring about his repentance, cleansing, forgiveness and restoration to favour. He came to admit it and was restored by God’s grace – see Psalm 51.

There was an awful price to pay for this wickedness. Both his family and nation suffered by reason of it. Somehow this thing had long-term repercussions and he must have sensed how foolish he had been. He was to be somewhat rebuked for the rest of his days as he saw the effects of it revealed in some family members later on. The act of evil was not something slight that could be easily erased.

How watchful we have to be so that we do not have to live with a load of regrets! A moment of seeming carnal pleasure can have devastating results. Realizing this should put some inward safeguards that delivers in the hour of temptation and preserves the well being of many others, especially those close to us. We do not want to experience God’s rebuke: rather His commendation and pleasure. The Lord is able to preserve from this kind of evil procedure.

A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

THE BLESSED MAN

Psalm one makes it abundantly clear what the Lord thinks about and does for the person who honours Him and His Word. To the individual that is committed to hearing from Him, understanding His will and ways and prepared to act in accordance with the revelation, blessing is assured. It is defined and described as being like a tree planted in the right place, manifesting luxuriant foliage and fruit. All that is done will prosper. God will see to that. As you follow simply and sincerely the instructions from above, so you will harvest untold, incredible blessings. You must make it your primary business in knowing and doing what God tells you and the end result is sure to be one of unspeakable blessings. Do not let the opportunity god by of pleasing Him wholeheartedly and discover what it means to have Him pouring His favour and grace upon you.

Thought for the Day

A SPIRITUAL MIND-SET

In the renewal that has wonderfully occurred within you through the favour of God, you have not only received forgiveness, cleansing and been set free from the rule and authority of sin, you have, by the Holy Spirit,  received a new mind which is capable of thinking in a heavenly manner. If you are to succeed in a greater life and living, then this must function daily imparting the thoughts, plans and programme of your Father for your present situation. Instead of being guided and governed by the natural factors and forces of this planet, you obtain wisdom, knowledge and revelation from a greater source. You are inspired to live life on a greater level and wavelength and to contribute powerfully things of major worth to whoever you meet and wherever you are called to go. It is imperative to keep daily attuned so you may be kept renewed and be fixed to operate dynamically to daily good and usefulness.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Charles Hadden Spurgeon

How sweet it is to learn the Saviour’s love when nobody else loves us! When friends flee, what a blessed thing it is to see that the Saviour does not forsake us but still keeps us and holds us fast and clings to us and will not let us go!

DAILY MEDITATIONS

AN APPALLING SIN – 2 Samuel 11

The Bible does not overlook the sins of even good people but gives an honest record so that there might be true assessment and avoidance of following down the same track. This is one of those grievous incidents that should never have happened as v27 states – “But the thing that David had done had displeased the Lord.” The adultery was bad enough, but then to add murder to it was most destructive. Temptation presented itself to this godly character which reveals that even such people are put under fleshly allurement and enticed from the course of morality and righteousness He was not rendered immune from the seductions of the carnal although in a privileged situation and having made great progress in life. His success should have made him more awake to danger and so placed him in a more vulnerable position. A greater enemy was plotting his downfall, more than a Saul!

It has been pointed out, (and certainly there is some truth in it), that he ought to have been on the field of conflict with his soldiers leading them on in conquest. On this occasion he is taking time out and finds himself having to cope with sexual attraction and inducement. There is the case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time as well as being in the right place at the right time. Here David miserably fails at an important point in his career. He not only failed God, he failed himself, family and nation.

How essential it is that we do not fall into sin and bow to immorality! In an age where there is much promiscuity and unfaithfulness in sexual issues, we must not surrender our integrity and fidelity. There is so much to allure in these modern days to switch on our carnal appetites, but resolve and discipline is called for, and God is able to preserve us from yielding to the temptations of the flesh. God is able to give us control of all our natural desires so that we please Him always.

A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

PROVISION

PROVISION FOR HEALING

The same Lord that created and redeemed you in and through Christ has the capacity to heal you when you are smitten with sickness and disease or any evil complaint. He could assure a whole nation that He had freed from slavery that He was well able to look after their physical state. He was their NHS. Even though they may be afflicted by some chronic and threatening affliction, He was more than able to delver and make them perfectly whole. If they would respond to is loving laws and commands then they could be kept free from all devastating maladies. They would have a wonderful bill of health. The clear promise given then still holds good: “If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in His sight, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to his commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you . . . . for I AM the LORD that heals you” – Exodus 15: 26.

Thought for the Day

GOOD WORKS

It was by reason of the Lord’s great goodness that you were made a son of God and was brought into His royal, eternal Household. Now you have great prospects for life as well as an eternal future filled with immense possibilities. The good work that has been wrought in you is purposed very much to commence untold good works through you by the presence and enabling of the Lord. You are called and equipped to work for the blessedness of those within God’s family and to engage readily for the good of those outside of it. By your ‘good works’ it will apparent whether you have truly been transformed by God’s grace and favour. Today, seize all the opportunities presented to you to enrich other people by your doings and gifts so that they can witness who is now running your life. By such, others will be attracted and work for your Lord and the ultimate is an untold reward in heaven. Life will not be a vanity but a great profit to all.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Dr. Billy Graham

No one can outrun death. It will catch up to all of us eventually.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

A DISGRACEFUL DEED – 2 Samuel 10

It would appear that David was overflowing with a spirit of kindness at this time, wanting to be good and generous to all. Attention is directed to Hanun king of Ammon who had just come to the throne. It was his desire to have good relations with him and his people and so he sent responsible and respected persons to wish him well – v2. What a magnificent gesture it was and indicates that David was simply warlike in his disposition! At the heart of this man and monarch was the will to be kind and to get on with people.

Unfortunately there were those who gathered around the king who deliberately misrepresented the gesture and urged the king to respond wrongly. He listened to them and performed a disgraceful deed by dishonouring the messengers and embarrassing them profusely by shaving off half their beards and cutting off their garments at their loins. It was an awful thing to do. Instead of peace and good will it turned into war and bloodshed as Ammon suffered at the hands of Israel. It turned out to be a great loss for Him instead of great gain.

It is always important that we learn to interpret things aright in life. We should never attribute wrong motives to others in their kind gestures to us and we must always see that we are properly governed in our deeds. Let us not fall foul of evil in any way but make certain that we safeguard all we do with pure, sincere and loving inspiration so that we can activate others in similar fashion. When there is misjudgment it tends to lead on to greater trouble that is difficult to get out of. Always think deeply and prayerfully before taking critical courses of action.

PROVISION

A Daily Promise

THE PROVISION FOR PRESERVATION

The Lord revealed to Moses how He was to deliver Israel from slavery, save them from the judgment of death and open a way of exodus for His people. He gave promise and prospect of freedom from incredible conditions and make a route for them into something better. An angel of death was to visit Egypt and the way of preservation and deliverance was in carrying out \his directives. It meant the slaying of a lamb, applying the blood of the victim on the door-posts of their homes and so they would be safe and secure when the angel of death passed over. He said: when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt” – Exodus 12:13.A preservation order was upon them and is also upon you as you trust in the sacrificial death and blood-sacrifice of Jesus Christ. You have nothing to fear as you under this sacred covering, now and eternally. .

Thought for the Day

LOVE

Never forget that the inward driving force within you life and ministry must be divine love. You must be able to truly say like Paul: “the love of Christ constraineth us” – 2 Cor 5:14. It is imperative that you are held in by it and motivated by the nature of God, which is agape love. Less than this will not suffice to give a distinct revelation of Christ within the Church and to the world at large. It is be the token and badge that you are Christ’s disciple, servant and minister and nothing can replace this vital requisite. Be aligned to your Lord and Master and allow Him to feed and quicken this essential dynamic so that you may bear and leave a powerful testimony to Him and the quality of His Person. Today you will have the opportunity of showing this so do not waste it.

DOING A KINDNESS – 2 Samuel 9

In the running of the government and kingdom and the demands made upon him, David could have forgotten certain factors. Although retaining pleasant memories of Jonathan, he could have chosen to let things slide and not have been too bothered as to what had happened about his family. But he was duly concerned and desired to express some benefit towards any of his kin that may be still alive. There was one person by the name of Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s son that was alive however he was very needy and required help.

He was a cripple and seemed to be lacking in hope and prospects. In a gracious manner David stepped in with a loving deed and gave him a great future. He was brought into the king’s presence, given land that had been owned by Saul and the delight of sitting around the monarch’s table. A servant was deputed also to administer his property on his behalf. It all stemmed from a lovely attitude within David’s heart that had been initially provoked by the love and actions of Jonathan.

We have been so blessed by the Lord with so much of His kindness that it should produce in us the will to be kind to others, especially those placed in less fortunate circumstances. It would be well of you today to seek someone out in order to demonstrate some choice deed that will bless to their advantage. Do not let time and opportunity go by without showing some generosity to someone who desperately requires it. Leave a legacy behind you now of deeds done in the name of Christ for the well-being of others.

A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

A Daily Promise

A FULNESS OF SUPPLY

There is never any break-down or failure on God’s part in terms of provision for every one of His children. The promise is sure as declared by Paul: “My God shall supply all your need . . .” – Philippians 4:19. He is never reduced to a situation where He is impoverished and cannot meet the current and outstanding demand of any one of His offspring. The revelation of the Bible is of one whose name is – ‘Jehovah-Jireh’, the infinite provider and has at His disposal all resources to supply the situation of all who trust Him. He laid a miraculous feast on for His people in the wilderness on a daily basis and shall He not also work on your behalf to minister to every situation that arises in your life, even when things get desperate. You will never be able to embarrass God at any time with any kind of inability. So trust Him for today and everyday because He will not disappoint you because He is not a disappointment.

Thought for the Day

POISE

This is a possessing a balanced mind and spirit that enables you to more than cope with sudden difficult things that occur to throw you off your stability and equilibrium. In a moment, things can erupt into turmoil and it is needful that you do not lose your calm and control. The Lord is able to establish this quality of being because He possessed it in the most trying circumstances. Having to face the Cross with all of its injustice, pain and suffering, He was the One who never lost it but kept a watchful state of spirit and direction. Instead of being mastered and in pieces you will be master and have complete management and see some glorious consequences. So ‘let the peace of God rule your mind and heart, today’ and you will have true, divine poise.,

QUOTES TO NOTE – Charles Hadden Spurgeon

True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that – it is spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

RULING RIGHTEOUSLY – 2 Samuel 8

Great victories and expansion took place at this period in his reign. It would have been easy for him to be proud after all the successes and the fact that the Lord had spoken to him through the respected prophet in such a way. Everything had gone right; all was being subdued and the people honoured him to a very large degree. But there was something of major note that governed his life and work that was a real safeguard.

It states in v15, “and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.” He had tasted so much of the kindness, goodness and righteousness of the Lord in his life that it had an outstanding impact upon his own being and conduct. He knew that in the position he had been placed he must exercise true fairness; and justice in all to all. He and his kingdom would only be secure inasmuch as he did that which was always right. It was what the Lord expected of him and the people trusted him.

In all of our dealings with others we should practice no less. God’s Kingdom is based and built on righteousness and fairness. Therefore everyone within it should make certain that all is done in truth, honesty and in a honourable manner. Nothing should be permitted that is of an evil or questionable character. In a world that lacks in divine ethics and moral integrity, we should make doubly certain that we are not in any way influenced or governed by its spirit or standards. By such conduct the world is convicted and impressed by God.

GUIDANCE

A Daily Promise

Guided after Impossible Conditions – Gen 45: 25-28

After going after many years of severe trial through the loss of Joseph (something that must have baffled and bewildered knowing his potential and the dreams), and being reduced to dependency on Egypt for subsistence because of an intense famine, He really needed a miracle and some help from on high. He had not lost his faith but he must have wrestled long over matters. The crisis of the famine was to unlock the whole thing for him. Little did he know about the extraordinary providential acts of God re-his son Joseph. His dreams were being wrought out in a strange manner and Jacob was to get the full disclosure. The news is Joseph is alive and is ruler in Egypt!! He gets confirmation and direction from the Lord – 46: 1-4.  If the Lord says it that settles it and he can now go himself and see what the Lord has achieved. Maybe you need this sort of word because of the awful things that have occurred to negate all you great dreams and hopes. You shall yet see that behind the scenes has been silently and effectively working for your security and ultimate blessedness. You will be quite astounded by what he is to bring about so trust even when things look black and seemingly uninterpretable!

Thought for the Day

SURRENDER

If you are to really accomplish for your Lord  and His kingdom of any real and lasting worth, it will require complete surrender to Him of yourself in everything and at all times. Someone once asked General Booth when the Salvation Army was born. His reply was simply this: “When I said Jesus Christ could have all there is of William Booth”. The terms have not changed through the passage of time. Your Saviour, Lord and Master still demands not part but the whole of your being, gifts, time, money, yes, everything. He knows whether this obtains. He cannot be deceived in any way. As you surrender all to Him so you will discover Him as All in All. He will reward your total and willing submission by making sure He is with you always and by taking care of every eventuality you face. The wealth of Himself and heaven you will be yours and a lasting mark will be made in life and testimony for Him. You cannot afford not to Surrender to Him!

QUOTES TO NOTE – Dr. Billy Graham

I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

A PROPHETIC WORD – 2 Samuel 7:8-29

The word of the Lord into this situation was remarkable because whilst David was thinking of constructing a marvellous sanctuary for Him, the Lord had something more in mind than a material building. He not only reminded him of His outstanding goodness with regard to his past, a forecast of immense worth is made concerning his house for the future. The Lord states in v11 – “the Lord tells you that He will make you a house.” He has a major prospect in view that will exceed that of the fantastic Temple that was to be raised to and for Him. As far as God was concerned ‘a house’ really means a household of people, and in this instance, a royal dynasty.

The prophetic word truly is about the divine household that would arise through the Messiah coming through David’s lineage. When Christ was born it was specifically mentioned that He was of the genealogy and seed of David – Matthew 1:1. He came to establish a new and greater Kingdom and household than David accomplished. Through His birth, life, death and resurrection Christ has brought into being a Royal Family and Household that is to be of a spiritual and eternal nature – Ephesians 2: 19; John 1: 11-13. What’s under construction today is the household of God. Through faith in Christ, each Christian believer becomes a vital unit of this family that is to be the awesome dwelling place of the Lord.

What the Lord spoke to David historically and prophetically is now fulfilled in us who believe in Christ. We do not have to glory in some magnificent earthly dwelling place made for God, because, in point of truth and fact, we are His home. 1 Peter 2: 5 teaches, “You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house” thus highlighting our position – see also 1 Corinthians 6: 20. Know today that we are His household and He lives and works amongst us.

DAILY PROMISE FOR EACH DAY FOR YOU

A GOLDEN PROMISE from the Bible

GUIDANCE

A Daily Promise

Guided as to Real  Inward Change – Gen 35

The moment had come when it was essential that Jacob should go through dynamic, spiritual change. For many years the Lord had showed utmost grace and patience and  had been very kind to Jacob. So he is directed to go to Bethel, the place where the Lord had previously met with him to start him off on his relationship with him – vv1, 6. But the man really required a bigger work in him. He was not only to have a name change but nature too reflected in the new name, Israel – prince with God – vv9,10. He marked and sealed the event knowing he was into something better and bigger – vv14,15. The Lord does put up with your foibles and failures for quite a while, but He has in mind and providence when there has to be a thorough inward change. It is possible that it is now, at this point, when He is giving new aspirations and incentives embodied in a brief word, it could be a new name. You need to be in tune with Him as to what He is about in your life and seek both transformation and conformity to His plans for the rest of your pilgrim journey.

AN INSPIRED ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY

If Moses, David, Peter and others could succeed after their failures, so can you. Though you may have been shocked and shamed by what has happened to you, it is possible through the grace and goodness to move on from such and to achieve tremendous things that far outdo and outshine any failure and disappointment that has occurred. Do not dwell and live on the negative factor but know that the Lord is with you to stir, empower and to cut out a greater course and achieve some very noble work. Of course, learn from the mistakes and errors made, but in wisdom, dynamic and purpose believe you will in and through Christ the extraordinary. At least you are alive and have the opportunity to have a further go and proceed to great attainment that will give you pleasure and God praise.

QUOTES TO NOTE – Charles Hadden Spurgeon

A dark cloud is no sign that the sun has lost his light; and dark black convictions are no arguments that God has laid aside His mercy.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

WORTHY DESIRE – 2 Samuel 7: 1-17

When God’s servant did some sound reflection he sensed how wonderful the Lord had been to him. Early in his life he had spent most of his days in the fields and hills of Bethlehem caring for sheep. He had the heavens for a cover and the Lord as His great aid and helper. How things had changed! He was now king and dwelling in the Holy City in a beautiful residence! He had been miraculously preserved and wonderfully provided for. In pondering the Lord’s goodness he began to think of where the Lord was housed. A tent was not good enough for His Lord.

The prophet was sent for and agreed with David’s sentiments encouraging him to get on with the divine enterprise. However, the Lord had something to say on the issue that was quite revealing. He made it known that He had been fulfilled by dwelling in the Tabernacle. The humble abode was good enough for Him. The important consideration was that He had been near amongst His people. He had been concerned about getting His people into the Promised Land and into their abodes in order that he might bless them. At no time had He requested a building or fine residence: only their love, devotion and commitment.

The best thing we can do for the Lord is to provide Him a worthy habitation in our hearts. It is the place where He wants to and loves to dwell. All the ornate edifices built to Him are nothing to His extraordinary residence in the humble and believing heart. A Temple was to be built of exquisite worth by Solomon for Him but even which is nothing in comparison to Him coming, living and making Himself known in the being of one sanctified wholly by Christ.
