THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

In going with God it has to be said that a lot of challenge and dare is present. There are really no soft options with Christ as He seeks to monitor the spiritual will, faith and determination of His genuine followers. There has to be the readiness for instance to ‘give up all’ if one is to be His disciple. On the spiritual, moral and financial front He lays down the route which is demanding. Those who dare to do with and for Him are not the losers. The gains now as well as eternally far outstrip any demand that may be made on you. Everything He puts before accept and go for it. Get the spirit of faith and adventure inside of you and be up for all that is ahead and you will move ahead.

WISE SAYINGS

“The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him” – Proverbs 20:7

Our children are like mirrors – they reflect our attitudes in life. How good is to have good reflectors that reflect all that is good, inspirational and praiseworthy.

DAILY MEDITATIONS

THE CARING CHRIST – Luke 7: 11-35

This incident expresses quite powerfully how much Christ cared for people. As He saw this funeral cortege and realised the extent of it, that it was a dear widow that was burying her only son, Christ was greatly moved with compassion and felt He must do something to help in her distress. It affirms in v13 “When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her and He said, ‘Don’t cry ” Instead of letting it pass by, He moved in to demonstrate His heart of love in a simple but true expression. He possessed the ability to cause those tears to dry up and to fill her with joy and delight.

He was able to stop the cortege and speak words of faith, power and life to the corpse and call the young man back from the dead. The miracle then happened. The son of the widow sat up and began immediately to talk. Christ so cared that He brought the lad back to life again in order to be a greater blessing to his mother. The restored relationship would prove to be better than ever because of His intervention. What a difference Christ made that day to the whole proceedings because He cared! Suddenly all the weeping was over and the procession returned home in a state of immense jubilation.

It is heartening to know that Christ has not lost His loving heart but still cares today for people and especially those who belong to Him. He knows the particular sorrows that they encounter and would assure that He is present in an understanding way. Comfort of a divine nature is offered and He has the power to cause the tears to cease. The reason why He says, “Don’t cry” is because He has the answer for the situation no matter how problematic. If a miracle is required, He is more than able to provide one. Trust Him today to answer your grieving state!
